Over the weekend of the 6-8th July 2001 Vale Royal Borough Council held a Twinning Festival to which communities twinned with the Borough's towns and villages were invited. As we had hoped there was a substantial delegation from Mornant as there was the last time the event was held four years ago. There were also visitors from Carlow (Ireland), Dole (France), Kelsterbach (Germany) and Rychnov-nad-Kneznou (Czech Republic).
"Don't be a tourist, be a Twin"
As a prelude to the Festival, Hartford Twinning Committee held an exhibition about twinning, "Don't be a tourist, be a Twin", at Hartford Village Hall (Bowls and Tennis Club) between 11am and 5pm on Saturday, June 30th 2001. There were some contributions to the exhibition from the other twinned communities in the Borough.
The official itinerary for the guests is shown below. In addition, in Hartford, there were many informal events where several host families and their guests got together for meals, chats and trips around the district. If you would like to see more about an event below click here.
